The Top 3 Sustainable Style Tips for a Fashionable New Year

How has your January been so far? I've been taking it slow—mindfully navigating through my list of goals with excitement but without the pressure to achieve everything all at once, as it often feels at the start of a new year. There's a feeling of creativity and excitement in the air, fueled by ongoing projects and fresh ideas taking shape for 2024.

While on the topic of goals, you've probably caught wind of the 'Ins and Outs' trend swirling around social media. I picked up on a common thread among people's 'ins'—a shared desire to be more intentional about our choices. The more I thought about it, the more I circled back to a simple mantra that can be applied to almost every aspect of life, and that pretty much sums up my 'Ins and Outs' vibe: "Choose Less, Choose Well."

Expanding on this concept of quality vs quantity and inspired by one of my current favorite writers, James Clear, author of 'Atomic Habits,' I'm trying a new email format where I share three practical tips, two inspiring quotes, and one thoughtful question to inspire you —whether we're talking fashion, style, sustainability, or everyday lifestyle. Our brand emails with updates and behind-the-scenes will continue as usual, but my goal with this new format is to provide my perspective and inspiration more concisely. I've been wanting to experiment with this concept and apply it to fashion for a while, so please let me know your thoughts.

Let's get into it.

Three Sustainable Style Tips:
  1. Embrace Seasonless Wardrobes: Move away from the traditional fashion calendar and build a seasonless wardrobe. Invest in versatile, timeless pieces that can be styled for different seasons. This approach reduces the pressure to constantly update your wardrobe each season, promoting a more sustainable and enduring style.
  2. Think like a Designer: Consider your wardrobe a collection instead of a mix of stand-alone pieces. In the same way that we, as designers, design collections with pieces that complement each other, you, too, can plan your wardrobe this way. I promise you will enjoy everything in your closet more.
  3. Mindful Shopping: When shopping, consider the wearability of that piece, the craftsmanship, and the materials used to make that garment. Choose items that align with your values and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Two Inspiring Quotes:
  1. "Quality is not an act. It is a habit." — Aristotle
  2. "Buy less, choose well, make it last." — Vivienne Westwood
One Question:
  1. What steps will you take to be more intentional about your style and fashion choices?
Please share your answers with me here! I'll compile a list for a future email. Also, in a few words, let me know what you think of this email format or about anything else you'd like to see from this newsletter.

Let's make empowering choices that have a lasting positive impact!
